Credit for Previous
Study
Information for Academic Staff
- Check that an assessment has been made and entered on the CPS form.
- Check that
the form and the Advanced Standing letter are consistent.
- Note any specific
units already entered and ensure that the total credit points does not exceed
those noted in the letter.
Credit for Specific Units (Exemptions)
- Note: no credit given above 200 level.
- Academic adviser to check the course(s)
for equivalence
- 70% course content
- Place in degree structure
- Appropriate (MQ) level
- Only give exemptions for units that meet a specific
requirement for the student’s
degree. See next slide for examples.
- Units for which exemptions should be given include:
- Units specified in degree
rules as core or required.
- Elective units to be chosen
from a specific list of units.
- Elective units to
be chosen from with a specific code or designation.
- Check that the total of exclusion credit
points does not exceed the total on the CPS form at each level.
Any unallocated points will be included on the transcript as General Credit.
- This
may result in students graduating with more than the minimum number of credit
points for the degree.
Credit for Previous Study
- Sign the form where indicated and write a legible
name.
- Direct the student to
the next step in their enrolment. (Usually, E4B for admission)
