Transferring to a Law Degree
There are several transfer routes for currently enrolled Macquarie students to enter a Law degree.
In 2005 a quota of students not enrolled in a Combined Law program may be permitted to enrol in the first-year law units. Students must have completed 18 credit points or more at Macquarie University in a degree program to be eligible to apply. Those students permitted to enrol in this way, will be eligible for places in Combined Law if they attain at least the grade of “P” in the first year law units. There are no deferments on these quota places. Quota students who fail either of the first year units will not be permitted to transfer into Combined Law. Information about such places and an application form may be obtained from the Division of Law in November. The quota may vary from year to year.

The Transfer Policy of the University provides a further avenue for students not enrolled in LLB/BLegS to enter combined law (BA LLB etc). This policy is set out on p.30 of the 2005 Macquarie University Undergraduate Handbook.
The requirements are:
- completion of Law 113 (Pass) and LAW 103 (Pass)
- at least 18 credit points with a GPA of 2.0
- be enrolled or eligible to transfer to the non-LLB element of the combined award
Another route for students is to complete their undergraduate studies and apply for the external LLB Program. This program is a part time program by distance education, designed to be completed in six years of part time study (see pp. 190-193 Macquarie University Undergraduate Handbook 2005). Further information is available at http://www.coe.mq.edu.au/law.html.
